6 months?!?!

Can you believe it? I mean what happened to my baby?
I feel like these monthly 'birthdays' happen way too often.

But, back to the important stuff.

Becca is doing so well. According to Dr. G, she is perfect! What more could we ask for?
She had her 6 month well visit last week and here are her stats:

weight: 17lbs 7oz (75th percentile)
height: 27 inches (90th percentile - I know, we don't know where that came from either)
head circumference: 17 inches (75th percentile)

Dr. G checked out her eyes, ears, lungs, etc. and said she looked great. We don't have to go back for 3 months, as long as she doesn't get sick.

We've been very blessed that Becca has made it this long without getting sick. I don't expect that to continue with 'sick season' approaching, but we are very thankful that we haven't had to deal with any of that yet.

At her well visit Becca got 3 shots:( She got the Polio vaccine, DTaP, and the Flu Shot. I think she handled it better than Daddy. As soon as she started crying he tried to pick her up, not realizing the nurse still had one more shot to give. Let's just say Daddy almost got his flu shot that day:) Once she was done, he picked her up and she stopped crying.
I really do think it's harder on the parents than it is on the children.

We talked for a while with Dr. G and asked her a lot of questions, mainly about how to do the baby food thing. I know everyone does things differently, but most people I talked with were shocked that we still hadn't started baby food, but according to Dr. G, she wants you to do cereal at 5 months and baby food at 6 months. So that's what we did.

Becca grows and changes so much. Here are some pictures of what she's been up to!

B and her boyfriend at the Okra Strut.

She loves to cheer for the Gamecocks - even when they do play a bad game.

Jack is one of her new favorite toys...

and so is Daddy - especially now that she can sit up.

We're loving this fall weather and the fact that she can wear some of her new cute clothes!

We started cereal after she turned 5 months, and the verdict is...

she loves it!

Last Friday we started baby food.
The verdict on that....

we don't like carrots!
We've also tried peas, green beans, and bananas. She ate the peas and green beans, but she's not a big fan of the bananas. We'll keep trying - I'm sure that will change.

Bath time has also become a favorite part of her day now that she can sit up and play with her toys!

Other fun facts about B at 6 months:
* she eats baby food & cereal twice a day
* she only drinks breast milk - no formula which has saved us SO much money:)
* she still nurses when she's with me (this is one of my favorite parts of the day)
* she is wearing size 2 diapers, but once we finish this pack we will start her in size 3's
* she can still wear 3-6 months clothes, or 6 months - most of her warm clothes are 9 months and up so they are still too big.
* she still loves her Exersaucer
* she really loves her Jumparoo
* she is THE happiest baby ever
* she finally got some teeth - her 2 bottom middle teeth popped through last weekend
* she can roll all the way across a room
* she has just started flipping onto her stomach while she sleeps - shocker since she's always hated being on her stomach
* she really enjoys being around other children
* she went to the zoo for the first time last weekend and really enjoyed looking at the other children:) she didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the animals!
* she has a little diaper rash for the first time - I'm assuming this is due to cutting teeth

Becca,
We cannot believe you are 6 months old. You grow and change everyday. We enjoy watching your new discoveries. You are so alert and you don't miss a thing. You always have a smile on your face and you hardly ever cry. You love to sleep, just like Mommy. You are our greatest blessing and we thank God for a healthy, happy you! We love you to the moon and back always and forever!
Love always,
Mommy & Daddy

Becca also had her 6 month pictures taken with our friend Jessica. They turned out amazing! You can see them by going to www.hattonsphotography.com

Becca Crocker

How to bake a cake (according to Becca)

1) Choose your cake mix - we like chocolate:)

2) Mix everything together.

3) Get your pan.

4) Spray your pan with cooking spray and then pour the mix in!

5) Put it in the oven and wait...

6) and wait...

7) When the timer goes off, get it out of the oven, but be sure to use the oven mitts:)

It's so easy even a baby can do it!

crusaders for the cure

this was an amazing sight!
one that i won't soon forget.

this was part of the crowd of people who came together last saturday to participate in the walk for breast cancer.

people of all ages came out for this walk.

these two babies participated for the first time - both of them walking strolling for some very special ladies.

hayes was here for his grammy...

and becca was here for her ya ya!

in all, we were walking for 3 amazing ladies who have unfortunately been affected by this awful disease.

as soon as we got there, we ran into cocky so of course we had to get a picture.

obviously jason and i were more excited than the babies!

this was my second year participating in the walk, but this was jp's first time:)

(becca was here last year - in utero)

i feel very blessed to have been able to do this walk with my sweet family.

it made it even more fun that we had our friends with us.

at the end of the walk, becca and hayes enjoyed being out of their strollers.
they held hands for a little while...

and then gave each other a sweet kiss!

i am honored that we were able to do this walk.
i pray that a cure is found soon.
soon so mary and linda no longer have to fight for their lives.
soon so that this sweet girl never has to know this devastating disease.

won't you be a crusader next year?
