I often find myself wondering what we did with all of our ‘free time’ before we had Becca. Now don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t trade it for the world, but I feel like we’re always on the go. I guess that’s a good problem to have.
Because we’ve had an unseasonably warm winter, we were able to enjoy the zoo back in February. We went with the Eleazers, and the kids had a lot of fun.
The babies love being together, and this day was no exception. This was the first time in about a year they had been to the zoo together, and they loved it!
Jason even got up close and personal with the flamingos. Becca & Hayes were amazed by this.
They even walked around holding hands. It absolutely melts my heart. I’m glad I’ll have lots of great pictures of the two of them for their wedding slideshow!
Unfortunately, our trip was cut short because Becca all of a sudden started throwing up – on me. And of course we were all the way at the back of the zoo. We managed to make it to the entrance before she did it again. I, of course, didn’t have a change of clothes for her. Not.a.good.experience.
The day actually got worse because we ended up at the Childrens’ Hospital that afternoon. We already suspected she might have another UTI, and evidently vomiting can be a sign of a kidney infection. Without making this post too long, our experience was horrible. Not because of the staff (they were great), but for the fact that my baby had to go through so much. After about two hours, it was confirmed that she did indeed have a UTI, and the ‘lead’ doctor (I’m sure there’s a more official name – I just don’t know what it is) came in VERY concerned about her. He starting talking about admitting her. Needless to say, my heart dropped to the floor.
However, after talking with him awhile, he agreed that we could take her home after two shots of rocephin, a dose of oral antibiotics, and a few hours of monitoring. That definitely made for a long day, but we’re very thankful that she made a quick recovery and is healthy.
March has proven to be a better month so far. We got to celebrate sweet Caroline’s first birthday.
Her mommy had such a cute pink and orange owl theme.
She even had owls for the kids to color. Becca really loved the markers. We don’t use those in our house – for obvious reasons:)
Have I ever mentioned how much Becca LOVES babies? She had fun talking to ‘baby carowine’ while she was eating a snack.
And let’s not forget baby Josie. This sweet girl is the newest baby at Nat’s, and the kids all love her.
One of my favorite parts of first birthday parties is watching them eat their cake. Caroline LOVED hers - custom made by her mommy and way better looking than the one I did for Becca on her first birthday.
And I’ll let you figure out how she felt about it getting taken away!
We’ve had so much going on, and I hate that I haven’t taken more pictures, but I have promised myself to try and get better. I’m currently working on plans for my sweet girls second birthday party. I can’t believe it will be here in three short weeks. Where has the time gone? I will say that I’m not quite as sad as I was about her first party, so hopefully I’ll be able to keep myself together.
Becca is such a joy – even with all of her sassy, two-year old attitude. But, more of that to come soon….
