finally...pictures of the floors

So I know I've been slack, but we've had a lot going on. Building a house is serious business:) Just a quick update:

The hardwoods are done.

The tile in the kitchen, laundry room, master bath, half bath, and guest bath are done!

We are currently working on moulding, and that has proven to be a time consuming process.

Our next step will be paint and cabinets.

It's all so exciting, but I will certainly be glad when it's done and we can sit back and enjoy all of it:)

Here's a picture of our cabinets.

Here is another picture of the kitchen cabinets.
Note: This is not OUR kitchen.

There are more to come, but I'm really tired, so they'll have to wait!

floor update

this will be quick, but i've had a lot of people asking about the house so i wanted to give everyone a quick update. the hardwoods are officially done (other than being sanded and stained) AND we successfully tiled the kitchen, laundry room, most of the half bath, and most of the guest bathroom. we would have started on the tile in the master bathroom, but the tile that i absolutely LOVED and made JP drive all the way to two notch to get, looked totally different when we got it home. i hated it, so we had to take it back and get more. hopefully the tile will all be completed by thursday, and depending on my free time tomorrow, i'll try to post pictures of what we've done so far.

please continue praying for baby stellan. the doctors still haven't been able to get his racing heart rate under control.

Calling all prayer warriors...

Many of us know first hand the power of prayer! God tells us in Philippians 3:6-7 'be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.'

Many of you may be familiar with MCK's blog - she's the blog I got the 'Not Me! Monday' post from. The youngest of her four children, Stellan, is currently in the Children's Hospital in her hometown not doing well.

Please note that I am going to refer to members of this family by some 'different' names. This is how the writer of this blog refers to herself and her family members.

Long story short, Stellan(Mck Muffin) was diagnosed with a serious heart problem while still in the womb. He was not expected to live, but through much prayer and trust in God, he was born a happy and healthy baby. He has had no heart problems UNTIL last night. (I won't try to retell the story - click on the link above if you wish to read it.) Mck Muffin's heart is currently beating around 300 beats per minute, which we all know is too fast! They have tried everything they know, but nothing is working. Mck Mama is asking for prayers, and a lot of them! She and her husband, Prince Charming, are putting their trust in God. Please pray that:
* God's will be done with Stellan
* Mck Mama & Prince Charming continue to trust in God
* the doctors and nurses will be blessed with the knowledge they need to heal Stellan

We have seen miracles happen before, so get on your knees and start praying for little Stellan!!

I think I'm on to something

So, we finished almost finished our hardwood floors. I must admit that I was a little nervous when JP informed me that we would be doing this. I mean, it must be really complicated. How wrong I was. The process, while time consuming, was fairly easy. Watch out - I may have found a little part-time summer job!

Here are some pictures I took over the last few days. Just as a side note, the floors are unfinished so we still have to sand and stain them.

Not Me! Monday

Since I have recently joined the blogging world, I have become obsessed very interested in reading other peoples blogs. I am amazed at how well people write. Maybe one day I too will be that interesting.

Well, back to my post. I follow a blog called My Charming Kids that I found on Morgan Kate's page, and this woman is amazing. She has 4 kids, ages 4 & under, and her very open & honest stories always make me smile. On Mondays she titles her blog 'Not me! Monday'. It is here that she provides stories from her week of things she absolutely would never do...or at least things she can't believe she did do. It is this post that I always look forward to the most because I usually end up rolling on the floor in laughter. She encourages her followers to share their own 'Not me!' stories, something I never even considered participating in until I was getting ready for work one day last week. When I caught myself doing something absolutely rediculous, I immediately thought of MCK's blog and her Not me! posts. I realized at that moment that we all do things we can't believe we did, so why not share it with the world? What's a little humiliation if it makes someone else smile??? So here goes...

I did not say 'I'm sorry' out loud as I accidentally washed a moth down the sink one morning last week. Nope, not me.

I also did not eat half of a bag of Crazy Bread on my way home from Little Caesar's last week. I would never do that - especially after weigh in. Nope, not me.

As many of you know, I have a serious addiction love for lip gloss, chapstick, etc. So, when I say that I did not get out of bed last week at 3 in the morning to get my lip gloss, I'm sure you'll believe me. That would totally be out of character for me.

Because I know how irresponsible it would be to let Cooper, my friends two year old, play in the rain and mud puddles, I certainly did not allow him to do that until there was not a dry spot on his pants and I had to strip him down and throw his clothes in the dryer. Nope, not me!

And finally, yesterday, while working yet again on the hardwoods, Jack (one of my sweet labs) reverted back to his puppy years. He found a knee pad that Ryan left at our house on Saturday and comenced to running through the new house playing with it. JP & I were in hysterics because he never acts this way. I happened to think while he was doing this that maybe I should take the knee pad away from him so he didn't tear it up. Of course I never would have allowed him to continue playing with it and simply tell JP that we would just buy Ryan new knee pads. Nope, not me!

Yahtzee

Yahtzee! To many of our friends, when you hear the word 'Yahtzee', you think of it simply as a phrase that JP uses frequently. Well, I am happy to report that we finally learned how to play this game - & we absolutely LOVE it! It has become one of our favorite things to do on a Friday night. For anybody who has never played this very easy game, please go out and buy it (or just round up 5 dice because that's all you really need)!
Now we all know that you can't play a game and not make up some of your own rules, so that's exactly what we did. The consequences of losing a game while playing Yahtzee at Lala & Jason's is nowhere you want to be:) I won't tell you exactly what the 'loser' must do, but I will include the following picture that may give you a hint. If you must know what I'm referring to, please feel free to join us for a game most any Friday or Saturday night!
